Bertrand Delanoë, Pascal Cherki, mayor of the 14th, and Mokhtar Trifi, president of the Tunisian League for Human Rights, will open Thursday, June 30 the “Place Mohamed Bouazizi, 1984-2011, a tribute to the Tunisian people and its Revolution January 2011 “and to honor the memory of the young man.
The square, located in the 14th arrondissement near the Parc Montsouris, will be named to symbolize the courage of thousands of Tunisians who rallied for democracy, justice and freedom.
The inauguration will be attended by the family of Mr. Bouazizi as well as numerous partners and associations from the revolution and people close to Tunisia.
Following the opening speech of Mr.. Delanoë, and Cherki Trifi, the Tunisian singer Abir Nasraoui, will perform “Horriya” song about freedom written by the artist after the revolution of Tunisia.
Recall that the decision to appoint the place in Paris was voted unanimously by the Council of Paris in February 2011.
